About Les 2 Garçons
Les 2 Garçons was born from a friendship and a shared passion for food, wine and hospitality. Robert Reid and Jean-Christophe Slowik (JC) met in 1998 at The Oak Room, where they both worked under Marco Pierre White, and have been good friends ever since.
Jean-Christophe's culinary career in the UK began at Le Manoir aux Quat'Saisons as a Commis Sommelier, followed by Harvey's restaurant (where Chez Bruce now resides in Wandsworth) as Restaurant Manager. After many years working with MPW, he realised his dream of running his own restaurant and L'Absinthe opened in Primrose Hill, which became hugely popular with the locals before its closure in 2018.
Former Head Chef of Marco Pierre White's three-Michelin-starred Oak Room, Robert's cooking career had begun in France, having held positions at Michelin-starred Roger Vergé’s Moulin de Mougins on the Côte d'Azur, Au Crocodile in Strasbourg moving to Paris to join Restaurant Jamin Joel Roubuchon before moving to London to join MPW then taking the helm at Home House, Mayfair, followed by Keith McNally’s New York classic – Balthazar in Covent Garden. Robert is passionate about working with "simple ingredients, cooked in the best possible way".
Having worked for other people for so long, the idea of running their own place had been a long-held ambition. And now, both living in Crouch End, they’re just down the road from their bistro de quartier, Les 2 Garçons.
